We all know that America and China don’t enjoy each other’s company, but why? Since when? And what shall we do so that their feud doesn’t raid our bills through the stratosphere? Their tension has grown through decades of mistrust, technological competition and conflicting worldviews. To reduce its impact on ordinary people, global trade discussions must prioritise stability, transparency and cooperation, ensuring disagreements don’t escalate into disruptions that inflate everyday costs.

Welcome to the World Trade Organization (WTO) committee of OdeMUN 2026! I can’t wait to see you guys debating this topic!! My name is Guy Dekel and I’m gonna be your chair at this upcoming conference. I’m hoping to see you guys interested, excited and engaged throughout the committee and I’m sure that I’ll see the best of you over the day we have together.
I am currently in 11th grade and it’s my third year in MUN. It’s my fifth time chairing and I think my 14th conference overall and so far, each time I’ve enjoyed chairing more than the last time so I hope that trend continues with you guys. What I love about MUN is the way it allows you to learn about an important topic in an interesting way as well as the way it lets you connect people from all around the country you wouldn’t meet otherwise.
The topic we’re going to discuss is that of solving the trade war between the USA and China. I think this topic is super interesting because it makes you really think about multiple aspects of modern international politics. Should two global powerhouses be acting this childish towards each other? What are the future implications of such a conflict? Will this escalate into an all out war? All things we hope to answer throughout our committee.
